Dear Corbin:

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Dear Corbin,

I haven't stopped thinking about you all week. The one rainy morning less than a month ago I got to spend with you will likely stay with me the rest of my life. You were so brave. So strong. So patient with your sweet parents who just wanted one more photo... Just one more.

It would have been so easy to postpone that session. The rain... your exhaustion. So many reasons to do it another day.

But we would have likely never gotten another chance.

So. Thank you for the time I got with you.

I am so grateful you are now in a body that runs and leaps and moves like the wind. I am so grateful to have seen you smile. I am so grateful families are forever. Your family misses you so much that they don't know how they'll get through... But they also know that families are forever, and they will see you again.

Please look out for them until then. They're going to need it.

Thank you... for changing me. For blessing me with that rainy morning.

I wish for you and for your sweet family peace,

Emily

Tears here...of sadness on the passing of this family's sweet son; and happiness that you are able to give them the gift of these precious photos. TFS and God Bless you and this family.

  4. Thank you again for sharing this poignant experience...even now, reading about it all over again, has brought tears to my eyes. As it says in the New Testament, though - "The truth shall set you free." I can only think of the peace and the spiritual and emotional freedom that the truth and knowledge of the gospel has brought this family and all who have come to know them.

Thank you for this snapshot of the beauty of eternity.

They look like a beautiful family who was blessed, albeit for too short of time, with their little boy. I'm certain he's an angel now. Such a nice tribute.

  13. As tired as he may have been, your photos have made sweet Corbin live on longer thru us. I think that is always important to a family after a loss-that their loved one is not forgotten. And that family photo is just too beautiful. What a beautiful family. I'm so sorry for their loss though.

  14. I'm Laulley on 2Peas and your blog has been on my reader list for awhile. I was so shocked to see today's post. Joe is my cousin and today I attended Corbin's funeral in Utah.

Your photos are absolutely beautiful! Thank you.

  16. Bittersweet is right. Wow. I couldn't look at these/your words very closely; I knew if I let myself I'd be weeping all night. But someday I'll go back and spend a lot of time on this page.

I don't know how you do it, Emily, but this is WONDERFUL.
