happy halloween! (you're never too old to play dress-up...)

lyrics i keep hearing in my head today.

Friday, October 27, 2006

"talkin' to myself and feelin' old....
sometimes i'd like to quit.
nothin' ever seems to fit...

Hanging around, nothin' to do but frown...
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down...

What I feel has come and gone before.
Nothin' is really wrong [not true today]
Feelin' like i don't belong...

Hangin' around, nothin' to do but frown...
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

Funny but it seems i always wind up here with you.
Nice to know somebody loves me.
Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do-
Run and find the one who loves me....

Hangin' around, nothin' to do but frown...
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down."

hair today, gone tomorrow....

[after the new color, before the cut]

[short and sassy!]

what do you think??

it's like a whole different girl, eh? I always think the change is CRAZY... but i am loving it.

Friday, October 20, 2006

i cut it all off. but it is not perfectly cute today, because i had to get ready in record time this mornin'. so you'll see the actual haircut some other time. ta!
happy weekend!

i like comments...

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

if you happen to belong to blogger and check this one out sometimes... i like knowing what you think, or getting a note once in a while. But maybe i'm pathetic. maybe you don't read your own comments, so its not a big deal...

i just like it. :)

rainy days and mondays always get me down...

Monday, October 16, 2006

glum, overcast, depressing day... after a forced-but-lovely-and-relaxing four-day weekend, it was torture to make myself get up and go back to school... ugh. and it was soggy and chilly ally day, adding to my mild despair.

But.... rainy days make for GORGEOUS fall leaf pictures... so when i got home from school, I put on some baggy old clothes, one of joe's hats, and went out into a very drippy rain and got soaked while i snapped these pictures. I especially got wet on my butt, since I was bending halfway to take the pictures so the camera would stay as dry as possible. Funny sight, i'm sure.

Day ended up okay, after a lovely nap, a dramatic haircut (pictures to come), and some downtime at home, safe from the rain.

Emily Needs: The Google Game Katie Told Me About

Friday, October 13, 2006

Katie saw a friend's results, so she did the same thing (here is hers)... You type Emily needs, or Steve needs, or whatever, in the Google Search Box, and your results come up... so random. You have to sift through some non-relevant stuff, but it can be pretty funny.

Emily Needs:

Emily needs to be told "No, there are certain things that just are NOT allowed", just like in the real world.

Oh, really? The REAL world? Like what?

Emily needs to SNAP out of it

probably true. I have been really paranoid these past few days, and it probably is time to get over it.

All Emily needs to do is work on reading a little extra every night

wouldn't THAT be nice? Just read myself to sleep, no worries about getting to bed at a decent time

Emily Needs A Gangsta

heck, yeah! What would I do with him, though?

Emily needs to get help

cleaning my room, sweeping the hardwood floors, how about grading papers for 1st quarter grades??

Although Emily needs to write the way most people need to breath, she agrees and takes another step in her climb to adulthood.

I DO love to write. Hasn't been a NEED lately, as much as making art has been.

Emily needs aesthetics To shield herself She calls herself pathetic But if she looks inside She see's it's not so bad

aesthetics (noun):

1.the branch of philosophy dealing with such notions as the beautiful, the ugly, the sublime, the comic, etc., as applicable to the fine arts, with a view to establishing the meaning and validity of critical judgments concerning works of art, and the principles underlying or justifying such judgments.
2.the study of the mind and emotions in relation to the sense of beauty.

ok. sure! I love aesthetics. Is that a problem??

If Emily needs to be saved, then why in the world was Uncle Theo not tested to see if he would be a match?!

yeah, Uncle Theo. What kind of a man ARE you? Jerk.

Emily needs a series of exemptions to Harvard’s administrative rules

because i'm above the law.

Emily needs to learn to balance her personal life with her job.

like, maybe not even HAVE a job so i can RECLAIM a personal life.

All Emily needs to do then is click Send.

actually, on blogger, it's "publish post", not "send". Get with the times.

Emily needs to learn how to deal

Deal or No Deal? I LOVE that show!

Emily needs to be at gate 81, at near the beginning of terminal 8 -- in less than five minutes

great! where are we going?

emily needs to get out of that house and go back to school

actually, shhh... i really AM taking a day off of school today. So this pushed my guilt button. I'm in snowman pj pants and slippers at 11:00 a.m.!!

Emily needs to tackle your most demanding print projects

i'd rather not. I'm taking the day off, remember?

Emily needs to learn how to read

ouch! And I'm an ENGLISH teacher!!

I think Emily needs a hug

always. except from creepy strangers.

Emily needs to go back in time to save her grandfather, so she digs through his notes and finds plans for the next generation of time machine

wow. and i thought he'd lost those plans. I was going to give up hope.

Emily needs no special assistance to work in lab practical classes, a regular lab partner is all she requires

because i'm SMART. I can work like the regular kids.

Emily needs to fess up to her deed and take on the responsibility of calming the creature, a task rife with complications

um... ahem. ok. Your turn. If you DO decide to do this, email me or tell me about it in the comments section of this blog. "Cause I think it is freaking hilarious.

here is some of the Ren. Fest randomness we saw. Enjoy!

[joe is a pretty pretty mermaid. with a beard.]

[this "leper" was VERY convincing.
Kinda makes me want to throw up to remember.]

[just pretty. The colors were astonishing.]

[you had to see him in action. JUST like the real thing!]

I think the fanatics and the crazies are as fascinating as the sights, sounds and smells... It's amazing how people focus their lives around this kind of thing!

[my dining room today... perfect!]

something about autumn. It's really here, it's finally here, and I am embracing it full-heartedly.
I bought two lovely scented candles today, mulled cider, and pumpkin spice.

I made pork chops and baked sweet apples for dinner...

I listened to bittersweet instrumental music,
and opened up the windows to feel the cool afternoon air.

I love this.

Renaissance Festival!!

Thursday, October 5, 2006

tomorrow joe and I are driving to Columbia to hang with my family... we are going to the corn maze outside of town, (it's a really well-done maze... there is a scavenger hunt thing with it, so you have a goal while you are in there)...
Then on Saturday we are going to Kansas City to the Renaissance Festival! Yay! I love love love the Ren Fest... it is packed with Renaissance-lovin' geeks, (which makes me want to be one sometimes...) has such good food, really great little shops and craftsmen, and the performers are fun, too.

I can't wait!
