One Year Ago: January 2013

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

If you know me at all, you know the one thing I am always behind on that I would DIE to be caught up on: Personal photos. Well, I've had a rare couple of pockets of time this week, so I decided to dive into 2013 and see how bad it is.... And, well..... It's not pretty. I had most of January culled and edited, and about half of February.... and then.... Lots and LOTS and lots and lots and lots and lots of months barely touched. Just enough to blog a post about Quinn growing older, or that one month I posted a whole week of quilts...

Somehow, 2013 just.... got away from me. It was QUITE a year. (No kidding, right?) A year of learning things the hard way. Of letting go and letting go and letting go of expectations. And a year of forgiving myself a LOT. I have a lot of thoughts about 2013, really.... but not tonight. Tonight, I'm going to share January. Because I finished it, and I love seeing it all in one place like this, and I think it's going to be VERY healing and lovely for me to review last year like this--- one post at a time, when I can get them done.... slowly but surely finishing a year that got away from me. Simultaneously letting it help me remember to appreciate the current year, maybe? And maybe, somehow, there will be more pockets of time, and I can try to keep up a little bit on THIS year.

A girl can dream, right?

One year and two months ago, January 2013 happened. It looked something like this:

  7. Love love love! Question--as a professional photographer, do you struggle to actually TAKE fun photoshoots of your kids? I'm by no means a professional, but I find it hard to motivate myself to set up a shoot on my own, although I love doing it when friends ask!

  8. Oh, that tear on Lucy's cheek and Noah's devotion to Mai. And Lucy fixating on the little flashlight in the first shot. LOVE them all
